Rosh Hanikra is a northern coastal city on the Lebanese border. It is known chiefly for its beautiful Grottoes, caverns about two hundred meters long, which were formed over time as the sea ate away at the chalk rock at the seashore. They can be reached by riding a cable car, which runs year-round, except for the couple of days each year when it is too stormy at sea to safely operate the cable car.
